Stella W Kaczmarczyk

Stella was born on a farm in Kucembów, Poland on August 16, 1922. Her mother’s name was Franciszka Banaś (Misiowiec). Her father was Józef Banaś. She was the oldest daughter of eight siblings. She was taken by the Nazi’s from her Church during WW II and brought to work in a labor camp in Germany. There she met Zygmunt Kaczmarczyk who was a POW captured as a soldier with the Polish Army. They married in Germany as the war ended and came to the USA where they had three children Irene (spouse: Donald Sparks, Henry (Lyn Maine) and Christine (G. Lantry Brooks, Jr.). Zygmunt predeceased her on September 8, 2003.

She was a devoted mother and worked as a skilled machinist at Arrow-Hart & Hegeman. Then employed by Colts Firearms, and lastly as a housekeeper for SS Cyril & Methodius Rectory until around the age of 80.

She lived independently first in Hartford and then in West Hartford and died peacefully in her own home after a brief hospital stay following a fall a few days earlier.

She was a strong woman who loved her children, granddaughters (Talasi and Jasmine Brooks) and especially, her great granddaughter (Lael Bowman-Brown). In addition to her children, granddaughters, and great-granddaughter, she leaves her sons-in-law: Donald Sparks, Lanny Brooks, and Alex Bowman-Brown, and her beloved sister Zosia (Banas) Maruszewski in Berlinek Poland, her great nephew Piotr Maruszewski, and her remaining beloved extended family in Poland.

We will be celebrating her life on Saturday October 22, 2022, beginning with visitation from 9:30-10:30 am at Maple Hill-Talarski (located at Molloy) Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave. West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am at SS Cyril & Methodius Church, 63 Popieluszko Court, Hartford CT 06106. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, 200 Whitman Ave. West Hartford. A reception will follow to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SS. Cyril and Methodius Church, or Hospice Care.
