Leopold Grenier Obituary

Leopold Arthur Grenier, 81, of Coventry, CT passed away on July 21, 2018, after a brief battle with cancer.  He was pre-deceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Patricia Mary (Owsiak) Grenier.  He leaves to mourn his three children Vincent of Coventry, David and his wife Dana of Staffordville, and Susan and her husband Tim Harris of Vernon., four grandchildren Danielle, Dylan and Devin Grenier and Cory Opalacz.  He is also survived by his brother Laurier of Coventry and predeceased by his brother Gerard Grenier.  Leo proudly served in the US Air Force and lived in Coventry for 56 years. He was employed by UTC /Pratt & Whitney in the Power Systems Division in South Windsor for 45 years. During this time, he worked as a fuel cell assembler for the Apollo and Space Shuttle programs giving him the opportunity to meet with the astronauts and work on the space shuttle in Florida.  He loved motorcycling, was a member of the BMW Club, the NRA, American Legion, and going for breakfast near and far with his many friends. He was a devoted husband, father and Papa enjoying many visits from his grandchildren.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends who knew and loved him dearly.  Calling hours will be Friday, July 27th, from 5-8 p.m. at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 28th, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial the military honors will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Maple Hill Chapels-Talarski Funeral Home has care of arrangements.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
