Carmen A. Pace, 96 of Wethersfield, CT. husband of the late Joan (Merlino) Pace passed away on August 20, 2022.
Born January 18,1926, Carmen was the son of Terino and Vincenza Pace and grew up with his family on the East Side of Hartford.
In 1942, Carmen graduated from Hartford Public High School and enlisted in the U. S. Navy. In 1944, he was appointed to radio technician and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1945. The next 41 years he started his career with the Hartford Electric Light Company and in 1986 retired after 41 years of dedicated and exceptional service.
In addition of being a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle, Carmen was also very active in a number of organizations. He was a honorable lifetime member of the Hartford Home Builders Association of Hartford, the Wethersfield Chapter of UNICO National and a long time member of the Wethersfield Democratic Town Committee. Carmen also served for 25 years as the Wethersfield Democratic Register of Voters and served as sergeant of arms for the State of Connecticut Senate chambers. Carmen also volunteered for many years at the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford.
Carmen will be greatly missed by his sons Daniel and his wife Denise, Thomas and his wife Elaine and Steven and his fiancee Denise Blaede, his grandchildren Jennifer Grahek and her husband William Grahek, James Pace and his companion Dana Baio, great grandchildren Andrew and Harrison Grahek and step grandchild Tony Shelto. Carmen will also be missed by his nieces and nephews and many friends and acquaintances.
Carmen was pre-deceased by his siblings, Americo, Ermino, Augustine Pace and sister Laura Longo and was the last living member of his family.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday August 27, 2022 at 10:00am. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield, CT. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. The burial will be private and there are no calling hours.
The Maple Hill Chapels / Talarski Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave, West Hartford is in charge of funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carmen’s name may be made to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, 282 Washington St., Hartford, CT. 06106.
